Rowing machine
Heart and lungs; legs, back and arms.

How to do it
- Tighten the straps over the widest part of your feet and grab the handle with your arms straight.
- Push with your legs first, keeping your arms straight.
- When your legs are almost straight, lean your torso back a little and pull the handle to your lower chest.
- Return in reverse order: arms, torso and finally bend your knees.
Cues
- Order of the stroke: legs, torso, arms.
- Back straight the whole time.
- The power comes from your legs, not your arms.
Common mistakes
- Pulling with your arms before pushing with your legs.
- Rounding your back as you come forward.
- Bending your knees before the handle has passed them.
Long, powerful strokes at an easy rate (20-26 per minute) beat lots of short, fast ones.
